  • Looking for a project BC-12D

Anyone know of a BC-12D project for sale? Ideally looking for something that needs some rebuilding (recover, etc) but not a ground-up rebuild. Engine not really required but I wouldn't mind having one to take apart.

This would be a long-term curiosity project -- sort of a see-what-makes-it-tick thing.

I'm located in New Hampshire (NH69). Didn't really see anything locally.

    Cheers,

    Hi Chris,

During the past few weeks Uncle Henry's has had an advertisement for a T-cart project somewhere in Maine. If it's not in the current one, let me know and I'll see if I can scrounge up an older one................Buck

      BC12-D Project

      Chris:

You can come down and help on my project any time! Or, just take a look and see what you might be getting yourself into. : eek:

We still haven't gotten together yet either. Now if it weren't snowing today..............

        Project

        Chris,
I notice you were looking for a project. Yesterday my engine went belly up, but I have a good airframe in annual, and I might sell it. It would make a good project because the major work, that is the structure, is very good and was rebuilt in '99, but the cover job was not done well. It was recovered in '99 with the Blue River process. If you don't know what this is, it is the waterborne process that uses ceconite fabric but waterborne chemicals, not dope or polyfiber. In my case, it was not done well at all and the finish is poor and in places the taping is poor. I have recovered the right wing in ceconite, and this past winter I rebuilt and recovered both ailerons. They look pretty good. The engine is trash. I was checking out low compression on one cylinder and found end play in the connecting rod, took it off, and found the crank badly scored. It's good good mags, carb, nearly new wood prop, kennon wing covers. Overall, the plane is clean, nice interior, and flies beautifully unlike a lot of T-Crafts with wing heavy problems, etc. I saw your post and thought I'd get in touch if you haven't found a project. I'm still not sure what I want to do, having just found the problem, but you're not far away, so maybe something could be worked out that is mutually advantageous.
