  • bl65 metal prop

I found a page on the sensinich website showing tsds for prop.
It showed a 74CK-2-38 for standard cruise prop. Does anyone know if this is a metal or wood? I am not experienced enough to tell, it weighs 21 lbs. I think that is a metal prop., Anyway, if this is the metal prop, this is the one I am looking for.

Would it be legal to get a Continental prop and re-drill it for the Lycoming pattern (between the existing holes) ? It SHOULD be safe, there's enough metal in that prop hub to handle the loads. It would sure be less expensive than buying a new metal prop for $2000+

Well if it is, I have an Isky cam, a set up pop up pistons, and a three duece set up I want to put in my little A-65. Of course we can all dream!

          Re: bl65 metal prop

My point was that an FAA approved and loved propeller (the M74CK series), that was originally drilled for a Continental, and then re-drilled for a Lycoming, would not be a big stretch. The same stretch it would be replacing a certified Lycoming 65 engine on a T-craft with a Continental.

            Re: bl65 metal prop

the continental 65,75,80,85,90, and 0-200 props have the same bolt patern as the lycoming 65. just the pilot hole is bigger on the continental. so a small bushing will adapt it to the lycoming. my 65 lyc aeronca cheif has this pilot bushing with the sensenich metal prop 74ck-2-36 greg

Amen to all that... I use the metal 70-38 on both the Lyc 65 and the Cont. A-75.. yes 70-38
