    Howdy: I have puchased the skylight STC - pretty straightforward, but I wonder how many of you have original appearing welded steel stringers above the cabin? The STC calls for cutting out the wood t-stringers above the cabin and placing a rear cabin wooden crosspiece (supplied with the STC) to attach to the rear stringers, and welding mounting tubes on the upper cabin cross tubes to attach the plexiglas. I already have a wooden crosspiece at the aft end of the cabin roof attached to my wooden t-fuselage stringers. With my welded stringers, it appears it would be easy to just mount the plexiglass to them. Is it possible that my airframe was originally welded up to accomodate a skylight (military use)...maybe Forrest can answer this? Although the "official" SN is 6965, the fuselage tab is SN 6962 and date of manufacture is 02/1946. My 1941 BC-65 fuselage (wrecked/parts) does not have this configuration above the cabin. I would appreciate any insights. Thanks. Doc

      Your airframe is correct. Follow the STC or have your mechanic submit a request for deviation to the local FSDO before cutting any thing. If you can merely cut them off and weld the others on I would do that. for quick information use direct e-mail, I am off list once in a while for a week or more.
