  • "Brake Shop" Class

Howdy: I wish to thank Mark Julicher for his wheel and brake tutorial yesterday at 1T8 - we sure got dirty taking apart three sets of wheels and brakes - looks like we will get two functional pair out of the lot! As usual, we failed to get the inner races out, so we sent the parts to El Cubano (our wonderful ex-Continental AL A&P friend, Ed Santiago) - it will probably take him all of 10 minutes as he seems to have every tool made, and a whole box of those he has fabricated...and yes, we will make a bent screwdriver when it is all done. Anyway, the dust covers were trashed, and the elongated castellated nuts were damaged...called Skybound (770-446-6797) and they have them (and grease seals) in stock. I will try to get the bearings locally (A-6075 & 08125). After I get all of the small parts cleaned and inventoried, I will post my excess if anyone needs something. Doc PS: Boles Bearings in San Antonio, TX (210-222-9677) has the following prices: A-6162 race @ $12.63, A-6075 bearing @ $21.69, 08231 race @ $12.75 and 08125 bearing @ $28.95. Purvis bearing in Corpus Christi, TX has the A-6075 bearing and A-6162 race - they are hard to find as they are only for "antique" installations at this time.
