    Re: Latest Factory Website News

    Wow you folks must be my age. I saw all this stuff and loved it! Then we pedaled our bikes into Alliance to the Sat Matinees; Capt Video and his Robot " Tobor" robot spelled backward, Tom Corbett, Space Cadets, and many others, remember the Ercoupe with the rockets on her.?

      Keeping to the kids' film genre, "Chimp the Aviator" (Castle Films 1946), was one of my favorites. After cheating death, looping, spinning, and wing walking aboard a Fleet model 2, Chimp gives it up to a banana peel on the tarmac!

          I'm in the Capatain Kangaroo set. The movie that was my inspiration was 'The Blue Max' and a sign off piece that was on TV in the sixties called 'High Flight' that featured a reading of the poem to footage of jet fighters (mostly F-104's) flying through the sky and clouds, with the sun through the canopy. I found it on DVD after many years.

          I have known today a magnificent intoxication. I have learnt how it feels to be a bird. I have flown. Yes I have flown. I am still astonished at it, still deeply moved. — Le Figaro, 1908

            Just the fact that some of us remember when TV stations used to stop broadcasting late at night says it all ! Do you mean that this was before 480 channels from satellites and 24/7 entertainment news???

            I barely remember the F-104''s, but I do remember one version that used one T-38 fairly well. That was after the reruns of wrestling finally were over at about 2AM

                  My favorite is still the Black Sheep Squadron..... I just drool every time the Grumman Duck get's screen time. Absolutely amazing how rough they treated it on water landings.....not intentional I'll bet!

                    Best flying movie? Waldo Pepper! Worst flying TV show...
                    Sky King. He'd buzz the bad guys in his Bamboo Bomber. They'd fall off their horses. They would remain frazzled and
                    staggering while he went upwind, then downwind, base, to final, land, taxi, shut down... then open the door and jump on the black hats just as they getting off the ground. I remember seeing that when I was 5 or 6 and thinking that was as dumb as my little brother.

                      Re: Latest Factory Website News

                      I know Ed, but it was the ONLY show that that had airplanes in 1957, and at seven years of age, I could not get enough of airplanes. How many kids do you know that would ride fifteen miles each way to the local airport on Saturday, telling their parents that they were out playing with friends?
                      At ten, I sent away to United Airlines asking for a few photos of their airplanes, explaining that one day I wanted to be a United pilot. Several weeks later, I got a package several inches thick, and in it was a photo of every plane that ever flew for United till that date. I had them ALL, in chronological order on the walls of my bedroom. (How's THAT for obsession)?

                        Sabrina;
                        I'm sorry, I'd not read your Sky King entry on page 1 and so I wasn't commenting upon it. God knows I'm not chippy about such things. You like whatever you want to like and the world be hanged. BUT, that goes for me too. Everybody... pick what you want and be happy with your choices. It's actually a great system and a great life all because of it.

                          I must agree partly with Ed,I have the Great Waldo Pepper on DVD and I can't watch it enough. The Black Sheep was always another favorite of mine,as well as the Memphis Belle and Tuskegee Airmen. I also like Pearl Harbor, and the Flying Tigers. I can't pick a favorite because I love them all. However Waldo is probably at the top of my list right next to Jack,Jake, and Corcky in Tails of the Gold Monkey.....Thinking about it I now know I was born in the wrong era!

                            Ed,
                            No offence is taken. I knew that a lot of it was not plausible, but there were airplanes in it, so it was O. K. by me.
                            I saw The Blue Max the week it came out, and I loved it. I also enjoyed High Road To China, and both The Aviator movies. Sabrina
