    Sabrina,

I saw your comment regarding Class B & C airspace. It's true you can't actually fly into Class B airspace without a transponder, but in an aircraft originally certified without an electrical system, you most certainly can fly under Class B and within the mode C veil. I am based at a Class C airport and and they always get a primary target on me.

I've never flown with a wind generator but I've heard they are quite noisy and slow you down a few mph. I use an 18ah gell cell battery which primarily runs the ICOM radio and occasionally my nav lights. I use a Garmin GPS-90 and I get 14-16 hours of life out of 4 AA batteries. The gell cell holds its charge for quite a few weeks.

Now I will be running a new Garmin GPS-18 receiver through an iPAQ PDA with a moving map display. They both require a power supply but I expect that 18ah should still last quite a while. Certainly for an all day trip and then recharge at night if needed.

Looks like the same technique that Bombardier uses on their Challengers! If all else fails, this thing pops out and you still have electricity!

My first post was intended to be in the same group that Sabrina was discussing alternators in but somehow it got out all by itself! Guess I don't know what I'm doing!

          Not So!
From where I sit, you are doing just fine.

Now me, they say I have too much fun when I'm flyin'!
          What a person to do?

And I bet you do too!
