  • Wish I was flying in Houston

    I am off today and the weather is great in Houston. Wish I had a plane to fly. I know some of you guys up North are freezing and can't fly. I am thinking about you.

    I wish I was flying in Houston today also. It's been brutally cold here in Michigan for the last week or so.

      Just had to rub it in, huh, Danny.

      It's about 5 degrees here in Rapid City this morning...with a 30 mph wind and snow. There will be NO FLYING today.

        Re: Wish I was flying in Houston

        As I described 7 weeks ago. We've got Denver snow, lots and lots of the stuff. While we've had temps nearing 60 the last few days... we got 7 weeks of snow events and 3 blizzards, followed by temps in the negative teens. For those of you with nasty kids, you know how "negative teens" can make you feel. Anyway, bitter cold almost every day for 6 of last 7 weeks.

        The one week that wasn't awful and frigid we had downslope, and therefore warmer, winds, clocked near 100 MPH- about 85 knots if you swing that way. The main roads are clean but the side roads are more rutted than a monster-truck-pull-track. Ruts that splish-splash occupants every which way while you're just going to down a regular city block. My elderly mother got stuck and put her back out... just going to the store. AND, that's from getting jostled in the rutted streets.

        Denver has had the worst winter in my memory of nearly 30 years here. SO, for all of you complaining about alittle cold and snow where you are, I win. My hope is "I win a vacation anywhere that isn't Denver." That said I still love the place. Our chance of hurricanes seems to have gone up, given the downslope winds, but our chance of a sunami remains low.
        With regards;

          Tribe;
          Ok, alright, I must admit. Read the entry above this one... now I take it back.
          Denver just lost it's place as having the most awful winter this year. The Denver Frozen-Human-messed-up-streets-and-tired-of-winter Council now passes the honor onto Watertown, Osweego, Gillis, Leather Stocking Country - in UpState New York. Sorry for your 100 plus inches of snow -- your welcome to the title. I hope that our competive spirit doesn't kick-in and we attempt to regain the title. If so, I'm going to become an illegal alien IN Mexico. All the Best; ED OBRIEN

            Wish I was flying in Houston too!! It's been raining so much the grass runway where I visit (and have my mooney that wants out) has been completely soaked for over a month now.

            Heck, if it froze I could get the darn thing out of there!!
