  • New limit on Attaching photos.

I am going to crank down on the size of photo attachments here on the forum to 70K Bytes. Please edit your images before attaching them by reducing the size of the picture. Some Guidelines are:

    - resolution to 72dpi
    - 5" x 7" in size
    - .jpg format gives good compression so you can get more image packed into the file., if you have the option when you save the image pick medium or less than medium "quality"

We have a lot of members still on dialups getting old waiting for downloads, and those wonderful 11" X 17" images that some of our postings contain don't seem to want to fit on the screen.

If you have that really wonderful image that just begs to be viewed at its full glory, then http://gallery.taylorcraft.org is the best place to put it.

Thank you Bob I was wondering when this would happen. THE place for a lot of these photos is on the Gallery not the list... our snow went away and now came back again this morning.... Please let Spring come back this week-end....

Another Tip for those of you with digital cameras. They often have a default setting of a big picture with maximum resolution (pixels). Something like 11" x 17" at 300 to 2400 pixels per inch
which is a very large file; over 300MegaBytes in some cases.

If you take pictures this big and with this much resolution then you will need to use some kind of editing software on your PC to process them (like a Darkroom would) down in size and resolution to fit on the web.

The easier option is to just set the camera to the size and resolution you need for attaching here.

Note that PC monitors display at best 72dpi so anything with more dpi is going to be a waste of space and network bandwidth.
Printers are a different story. For that, use the gallery to save with better resolution. The gallery automagicly processes the photos to create a thumbnail and several sizes and resolutions of your image.

Your stuff may vary. Welcome to the Internet.

          photo gallery problems

O.K. guys, I have some shots of the day we first fired-up the engine, and I taxi-tested the plane. I tried to load them up, tried to log on, and used both Taylorcraftbc65, and my password ( I
use the same password for every site that I'm on ), and it didn't
recognize either. These are cool photos, the airport was completly
surrounded by thunderstorms, ( why I didn't fly it ), and the sky looks very ominous. HEEEEEELLLPPP!!!
