  • needed - tailwheel leaf springs

I've had a set on back order from AS&S for over a month now and I get calls every week saying the new expected ship date is 1 week away. At that rate eternity will end before I get the leafs.

I need some bad. who's got a new or nearly new set for sale???

    Try univair or wag-aero

Your tailwheel shimmy will go a way with the new properly arc-ed springs installed.

HELL YES!! I've been averaging flying once daily since you brought it here except for the week it was down for a new exhaust pipe install last week.

Is there something that shows what the geometry of a "properly arched spring" is supposed to look like?

nope... nada... nuthin. And from what they said when I called this morning it will be several weeks. This really stinks. Perfect flying weather and my damn leafs are busted. just typical.

Did you check with Wag Aero as Jason mentioned? Don't know if they have them in stock right now, but they did when I got mine there a while back.

                  Here's their 1 1/2" wide BC12D Tailspring link.

                  Good luck...

Re: needed - tailwheel leaf springs

Is it a leafspring similar to what would be used for a Maule Tailwheel? I have a brand new one that I paid 100 bucks for at Aircraft spruce, only to convince my A&P the next day that I didn't need to re-arch my spring, i just needed to fix the tailwheel bushings and rebuild the full-swivel mechanism.

I would part with it for 70 bucks plus shipping. I don't know if it would help save you from univair or wag.

Re: needed - tailwheel leaf springs

leaf springs arrived today and she's all back together and flying. What a difference!!! the tail sits about 5" higher now with the new springs and the shimmy is gone for good.

The Matco tailwheel is great as well. Swapped it out with the Scott non-swivel. Going to make ground handling here on the crowded ramps much easier.
