  • vernier control for mixture?

Thinking about trying to make my mixture control work and wonder if it might work well with one of the vernier controls using the stock arm on the control. Thought it might be better as I have seen mentioned on here that the arm is a bit short for easy adjustment with a straight slide type handle. Anyone have any thoughts?

flyguy: If you're talking Stromberg here, it may or may not work. After going to all the trouble of lapping the metering discs, after a couple of rotations they were scored again. Total piece of crap for controling mixture and best left wired to full rich. It's not linear and you have to wait for the small leaning effect to happen. Best effects will probably be seen above 5000 ft. With my 65 Champ , by the time I get to 5000 I've reached my destination

Thanks Ron, I've heard all the horror stories but I think I might be able to make it work. Sometimes I do some high altitude trips and I think with the 85 and the good long wing it might be worth the trouble.

flyguy: It's worth a shot. I would extend the arm to make life easier though. It can be an add on piece using the hole in the arm as a bolting point for the extension. Small channel section that would lay over the existing arm to cover the whole arm to prevent the extension from slipping. That alone should make it more user friendly. Take this with a grain of salt as I'm not certified and I can do this crap and not get into poop. You may not be legal doing that in certified.

Thanks guys. John, I have that already in hard copy. Good information. I played with one before on my first Tcart, but I didn't have all the information that I have now.
