Exhaust Smell

On the way back from Reklaw, my passenger commented on the exhaust smell. He says he didn't smell it on the way up. The only difference is that the windows were open on the way back. I guess I'm so used to it that I don't really notice it anymore.

Is this normal? The only place I can think that it would be coming in is at the bungee covers. How would I keep that from happening????

I noticed exhaust smell in mine after the annual but I hadn't flown it for two years. I got a CO monitor and it's always safe and now I'm used to it. I thought it had too much vibration too, but I don't remember how much is normal, so I keep watching it.

Lots of times that may be the engine cleaner used during the annual. Use the CO monitor all the time..

What CO monitor? Caged parakeet?

My annual was just about a year ago, so I think this is actual exhaust. But I have flown a looooong way, so I don't think that there is any danger. I might go pick up one of those home CO monitors and fly around with it for a while.......

Please do get a monitor, Richard. The worst thing about CO is that you wont know it's too much until it's too late...
