    Re: T-Craft Bug

It's a sickness.Although i have 2 planes,a 180 hp supercub and a 185,i find myself thinking of buying a taylorcraft.I have owned a couple of 85 horse t carts and i miss them. They have to be one of the best buys for a bush plane.Reliable old girls.I kinda miss the continental clunk of my last old girl. P.S. Peter perhaps you saw my cub compete against the ultra light winner? My buddy was flying it.It was the red and white cub.

Hi all, I would not even consider a Tcraft with a Rotax 9 seires engine, first off you have to know a special start up and shut down procedure or they self destruct, and Rotax issuses manditory service bulletins and Ad's about every 14 days. I have a Cont. 65 long before a Rotax, but a 0-200 would be great. GB

        Hi Phil.
You are right, it's a decease. Like I mentioned before I wanted to buy the T-Craft that won it's class at Greenville. I didn't and it have bugged me ever since. I wasn't at Greenville this year. I have been going by your strip several times this summer. if I fly up to Richardsons Lake this winter I'll give you a shout.

Peter that is a nice t craft.I think one of the dunn boys were flying it.They are into t crafts i have heard. They do good in the high horsepower competition with a 180 cessna also.Perry virgin has won the competition several times as well.Do you see him up at richardson? He was there the day we flew up on skis.I think he has a 100hp upgrade now.Have a good night, and if you go by stop in for refreshments at the new hangar.

            Phil.
I flew that T-Craft a few weeks ago and I could not belive how well it got out of the water, Brian Dunn was with me, he knows T-Crafts.
I see Perry's plane often when we take our camper trailer to South Arm. Next time we go by your hangar we will stop if we see a truck there.
I have been tempted to land on your strip a few times.

              Peter,

I have a 85 hp t craft. I live just north of Slana in Tok. Mine has the extended baggage , skylight, wing tanks and climp prop. I would really recommend these mods. It is a real honest and reliable plane. If you keep it light it will really perform. I am 6-1, 220lbs. and seem to be fairly comfortable in her. Mine has a plywood seat, so I know the standard seat sling will give you more head rooom. I put the B&C starter on mine and it works great!
The only drawback to flying up here is the cold. You wil have to get used to flying in bunny boots and Carharrts, as we know these little engines don't put out much cabin heat. Happy Flying!!

                Hi Wade.
Are you parked on the strip going out of Tok towards Slana? I may have seen your plane there. We come up every year and stay at Sportsmans Paradise on Nabesna Road.

                    Wade.
I have a picture of your plane next to the gas tank, nice plane.
I'm trying to post a picture of it, but I have to figure out how to make the file smaller. We love it up there this year we are probably going around the end of March I want my wife experience part of the cold before we move, not that is very bad then.

The blue and white T-Craft on the other side has different side windows, are they an after market mod?

                        peter,

Dave has owned that plane for a long time. It is a bc12-d, but he has put nice mods over the years on it. It too has been recently recovered and he has the 85 converted to 100 hp. It also has cleveland wheels and brakes.
There is also the black t-craft on our field. It too has the 85 hp in her. It was for sale, but needs some fabric work and tlc.
If you get up this way drop me a note. Love to talk t crafts.
It can still get pretty darn cold around here in March.
