    Re: Reklaw Texas Flyin

I don't think it was that plane, but very close. I think I met Jesse.....he was having a problem with the engine missing saturday morning and figured out that he had a sparkplug go bad.

One thing about Reklaw is that it is a bit like the wild west so you have to be real careful!

Attached is a picture of an ultralite that doesn't look like this anymore. He was making a pass at tree top level when a real plane took off just in front of him. He got caught in the wingtip vorticies that turned him 90 degress to the left where he caught the tree tops. It happened almost directly over our campsite! We sprinted through the (thorn filled, ouch!) woods to find the pilot sitting in his cocoon in fine condition. That was one LUCKY MAN!!! I'm sure we have some after pics that I will post when I get them.

          COWL FASTENERS
I have a question off topic. In the Red/White airplane photo Tim provided, I see that airplane has the same cowl fasteners as my airplane. They look like they're off an old trunk or heavy-duty suitcase. Not the most aerodynamic fasteners. I had always assumed they were added to my airplane sometime as a one-only mod. But now, seeing this picture, I am wondering if they could have been a factory installation. Does anyone know?
Those trunk latches are original equipment. This is what taylorcraft used for many years.Ya don't see many of them anymore because when the become worn beyond repair most people replace them with a more modern type of fastener. My mother-in-law has an old trunk that's been in her family since the early 1900's and it has the EXACT same latchs on it.

            Re: Reklaw Texas Flyin

I was the first one to take off sunday morning. Couldn't see much through the windshield with all the condensation and morning dew still on it. I wiped it down 3 times but the moisture kept coming back. It all disappeared after a few minutes of flying around the local area.

I still have to change my avatar over to the new plane since I sold the orange and white BC12D to Mark Huntwork in Oregon.

                    Hello all!

If you go to the link below, you can click on the link "Reklaw Fly-in Pictures" to see pictures of aircraft that were there. If you click on the link right below that, you can see a video made by the young man that goes to fly-ins with us (actually he plans most of them!). He is 16 and solo'd on his birthday. You might even see a really pretty yellow Tcraft!

                    enjoy!
