Re: bought my first Tcraft today

    DJ-
Great looking Taylorcraft! Seems like there's several Pietenpol guys who also gravitate to Taylorcrafts. It is hard to beat a Taylorcraft for a fun, safe time. I am in the same boat as you... 95% complete Pietenpol when along came this opportunity to buy a Taylorcraft. I am going to try and follow through with both, although hangar space is suddenly a big issue. This fall, I am preparing to change engines in the Tcraft. I have a low-time A75 (was planning for the Piet). But I have decided it's going on the T and the A65 engine I am pulling off the T will go on the Piet after I do some minor repairs and other maintenance on it. One of these days, we will have another Piet fly-in here at Tick Hill. Only next time, we will invite Taylorcrafts too.

I'm torn between selling the Piet as-is or finishing it. I suspect flying the Tcraft will maybe motivate me to finish it.

Here's one thing you can't do in a Tcraft. This photo of Chuck G. is my inspriation to keep plugging on the Piet.

Yes... I've got a copy of Chuck flying his Piet. Great photo!

Jason is set to start the ferry tomorrow AM. Looks like starting weather will be so-so but only for a few hours.... then the weather looks like it will be sunny and fair. Hope it stays that way.

I added to the posting about Chet's Book on another thread. Good idea about combining fly-ins WE are having Taylorcrafts, Aeroncas, Funks & Pietenpohls all invited to Alliance next year 6, 7 , 8 of July 2007.

                DJ,

Any news on the ferry job? I know the weather up here the last few days has been sort of lousy. A beautful sunny, and 30 degrees, morning it is right now. Hope she gets home alright. Let us know.
                Cheers,
                Marty

Re: bought my first Tcraft today

N43122 arrived today! As I was cleaning my garage today I heard that distinctive A65 sound fly over head. A brief look up confirmed my suspicions. Jason Gerard was on right base to his final destination, Mesa Falcon Field.

I hopped in the truck and raced to the airport which is about a mile away. I pulled up to the ramp at the same time Jason was taxiing in.

Plane is in great shape and settled in at her new home here in Arizona.

it's been a tense and stressfull 2 weeks organizing the ferry flight and Jason had some nasty weather to contend with in the beginning but all is well.

                    THANKS JASON!!!!!!

wind was dead calm this evening. sun was just about 40 minutes left before setting. Ran out to the airport and put in about 5 touch and goes. Even had the nerve to drive the Tcart down the runway on one wheel a couple times. She's so easy going and doesn't talk back.

I love this plane!! I love this plane!!

I can tell you already this fall/winter is going to see N43122 in the air nearly as much and she's on the ground! woohoo!
