  • F21 wing tank

I have a 1980 F21, bought it 6 months ago. I have been thouroughly enjoying this plane, flying it every chance I get.

Th only complain I have is the range of the plane. I wonder whether anyone has ever modified an F21 to put larger wing tanks in (such as the F21A)? (Even potentially keeping the nose tank)

I searched the FAA website and this forum but found nothing. I am curious to see whether this has been done (or any other legal extra tanks to extend range)?
    thanks for any suggestion

Be happy you've got the smaller tanks. The 21 gallon tanks are prone to leak, and require modifications to the mounting system (major alteration/337) to keep them from developing leaks.

All that can be done, I flew a F-19 with 54 gals.... both big wing tanks & the nose tank. They are all the same type certificate, think about it carefully, the factory tanks back then have probelms as stated previously. Think of your Gross weight. IF you really need more fuel how about a ferry tank in the rear with a pump to main tank. feel free to call or e-mail direct.
