337 s, AD's, Inspections, Knowlwedge about this rule, and what Paragraf What page in 43 13 is it described on?
    Questions and more question.
And when we have ask FAA for permision according to OLD rules, specs etc.
We are dealing with a mechanical devise what after todays standards are very simple. Our beloved Taylorrafts and other older aircrafts.

Many of us have basic mechanical knowledge, welding and sheatmetal working skills, and what we don't know we learn becuase we LOVE our little planes and love flying them.
Agin I reed trougth the EAA antique aircraft proposal, and it makes so much sence to me I can not figure out why it did go trought.

But when I am not a laywer. ( We all have take responceabilety for what we are doing, not having a Laywer on call!)

If FAA would have accepted it we would have the owner manitnence catrgory here in Canada that would be alive and well.
I know I am just a plumber what tinkerd with many things mechaical in life and when I can I apply the K.I.S.S principal.

ASTM has many standards for many materials, fabricated, or rawmaterial.
If we learn to read and understand them,we can apply them into vintage
aircrafts and ending up with modern hoses what dont care if we put ethanol in the fuel or not, and many other good things what is avelable today.
On the outside we still have a Taylorcraft, not prefectly orignal, but safer and better in some details.
Whitout a lot of papper work, let us fill the logbook. Just like the Homebuilder does!

Is there a technical diffrence between a Thorp T18, Pitenpole, and Taylorcraft. In basic construction. Yes, metal, versa wood and tubing.
Engines are diffrent,180 Hp versa85 - 65 or so, but they also comes with a manual, and 43 13 is a good manual for everything else.
Both manuals should on hand to qulifie as a maintiner, and questons about there to find some subbject in 43 13 should be on the test.
Just to prove what we understand what is in it and how to search in regulation.
Many of us do this now so why cant we be given some credit for the courses?

Anyone does undertake aircraftmianinence as a personal hobby is soon realizing what one has to know and understand.
There fore I am in favour of having basic course requirment to quelify for the task on hand.
Sheat metal for a Thorp owner, tube and fabric for us Taylorcrafters and Cubowners, etc,
Engine courses has to be more specific, but 2 - 3 day is all one need if you worked on cars, or motorcycles and can pass the required test.
    Theory and practical!
Hand over all testing and qulifaing of restorers and builders to EAA.

We pay EAA memberships, and EAA look after us and our hobby!

By annual inspections on simple aircrafts instead of yearly.

No constant speed props, rettactable gear, no turbos. Unless I am so certified!

What about glas panels, in my T, no way, in my home built, yes but I will have prove out the instalation, and any repairs generaly means the instrument goes back to a servis depot or manefactrer any way.
All have Ito do is install and re-install.
If you can plugg in computer monitor you can do what! Just harder to get at!

Traning gives credabilety! Are we going to be A-I.s no! We are going to need them to for help with things we dont have knowledge about and/or time for.

Prestart inspections by a EAA quelfied person dune when fabric is removed, Or simmilar, just make shure all work needed is planeed for. All projects neeed a starting point.
