  • cross controling on floats......why?

Firstly Hi ! I haven't been around this site for a while.

My experimental Tcraft with C90 and 1650 floats performs well but I still find that I have to cross control in turns and it feels very unnatural . I'll enter a
coordinated turn with Aileron and rudder but very quickly the turn becomes too steep and continue to increase unless I use aileron to correct. In order to maintain the correct bank angle I hold the rudder in the desired angle and then cross control with aileron to hold the angle of bank.

Anyone have a ventral fin they want to sell ?

I assume you checked the rigging on the float rudders. If those are out of whack it can cause similar symptoms. That's a pretty long set of floats for a T-craft so there is a lot of moment arm on the water rudders.

Another question. Are you just having to hold opposite control forces or is the aircraft actually in a slip/skid? ie is the slip indicator out of the cage in a stabilized turn?

Yes the ball is over to the side and it does feel like a slip/skid. I'm thinking as you are that the floats are the root cause and that a ventral fin should solve the problem .

I did check the rigging to be centered with the rudder.
