  • Need Parts!!!

Howdy: I received a 1946 BC12D parts order (complete pulley set) from the factory on Wednesday - could this have been the last package from Brownsville? Anyway, I desperately need: 1). Left & right landing gear, 2). #8 full left rib, #15, full left rib, 3). Instrument panel without doors, 4). Boot cowl and firewall, 5). Upper and lower cowl, & 6). Serviceable fairleads (Aircraft Spruce has undersized nylon fairleads). Anyone able to help with these items (? Forrest). It sounds bad down in Brownsville - the parts guy (Will) who was working on the above items is gone, but Dianna took my order for the pulleys and filled it. As of last week Harry told me everything was on track.........the local newspaper item was very interesting. On the good side, N43306's birdcage is painted, the controls are in and the cockpit is being built up. The empennage is ready for cover. The spars have been built and the wing rebuild will begin soon. The Cont A65 is together with Millenium cylinders and looks beautiful. Take care! Doc

    Re: Need Parts!!!

Howdy! On a whim I called Dianna at Taylorcraft today and she told me all parts orders were on hold for shipment, but that she could take orders - I gave her a list of parts I needed. I then asked to speak to Octavian who assured me that he could arrange for the welders to repair my gear (he said that new gear could not be shipped, but repairable items could be serviced). About an hour later I was called by Taylorcraft and told that they could ship me two wing ribs, a blank instrument panel, cowls, etc as they had them in stock and they were PMA'd at La Grange - apparently FAA 8130's would be available. l then asked about the legal troubles - I was told that the factory would not be building new aircraft at this time but that parts manufacturing would continue at the present time as employees were still working. I was told that if I wanted to label my landing gear components as "private property" when I shipped them, that I would have them returned if there were any new problems...if some ribs and sundry other parts arrive at my hangar I will let you know! Re: Need Parts!!!

Howdy: As an update, I spoke with Dianna at the TC factory today and she informed me she is shipping 2 ribs and a blank instrument panel that I ordered (complete with 8130's). She also told me she could take an order for cowls (upper, lower, boot, etc.). The proof will be in the delivery. As an aside, Tim Hicks' parts contact in Slidell, LA was an excellent one - Thanks! Doc,
If you need a boot cowl, upper and lower cowl try contacting Tim Woods. He has a nose bowl on barnstromers right now so you can get his contact info there. He does excellent work and everything is hand made...quality is second to none.....the price can sometimes scare you a little, but just remember that you get what you pay for. If you are not happy with his work he will refund your money with no problems. He is a great guy to deal with.
