So you draw a line the length of the tube and you plan on drilling several boltholes along that line. It's one thing the enter the tube at the point where you centerpunched it, it's quite another to go thru the center of the tube so that the distant boltholes will be exactly (well, you know) opposite.
Was GOOGLING and found the following: clamp your tubing in the drillpress vice and balance a heavy washer on the tube. Rotate the tubing until the washer is horizontal (the larger the washer, the longer the lever-arm and the easier to see if it's level). At that point, the line you drew on the tube should be right under the drill bit. if it isn't, rotate the tubing and reposition the washer. - MIke
