Thanks For The O-145 Parts Help

Last week I recieved three P.M.s of help from three of the members of this group. One of them offered to DONATE a mostly together O-145, (complete case, one or two cyls off), to our replica creation effort. I would LOVE to have the plane at the warbird line at a Sun-N-FUN in a few years. People need to know about the one mission that is chronicled on the Israeli Air Force's web site. In that mission, the Taylorcraft earned membership as a warBIRD, not just a warbug.
We are about ready to place the fuselage onto a jig, and replace two bad tubes. We will then powdercoat it, and start construction on a new set of wings.
As we start the construction prosess, I will be taking digital photos, and will load them into a file in the photos section if it is O.K. with Forrest, and Lee.
Wish us luck, this is going to be quite an untertaking, but Jim and I have done this kind of construction before. The hard part is going to be all the research that will be required to get the replica PERFECT. Brie

Why would you powdercoat the fuselage if you're trying to get it original?? That's the worst thing you could do to a fuselage, in my opinion (I know others disagree). I've had very bad luck with it hiding problems on tubing structures and around here, if the FAA inspector should happen to see something powdercoated, it better be experimental or he'll ground it.
Just my opinion, and worth all you're paying for it...

It was Jim's idea. He thought that it would better shield the tubing from moisture. I thought that it would do an equally good job of hiding any rust that was starting, glad to see someone agrees with me, I'll show him this thread later. Brie
