There is a device for centering a drill bit over a surface marked by a pin prick (centerpunch) informally called a "wiggler". Does anyone know it's formal name? - Mike

Re: What is a "wiggler"?
In the tooling trade it IS called a WIGGLER. It also goes by center finder or edge finder depending on which attachment is installed on the shank. The definition of wiggler is the pointed (needle shaped) attachment. It is easier and safer to just use a solid punch chucked in the drill press and bring it down into contact with the workpc(which is left free to float on the drill press table). After making contact with part you can clamp part or vice to secure location. I usually just use a spinning center drill to locate a healthy prick or center punch mark and then proceed to center drill in preparation for subsequent drilling.MIKE CUSHWAY
