Hey CraigH,
It's Jonathan Howells, the guy that stopped in Graham on the way back to Missoula, Montana in the Taylorcraft. I want to thank you and Stephan for all of your hospitality. You guys are great and I enjoyed looking at your Taylorcraft and all those projects. You will be able to fly your plane in Colorado without any problem. I routinely have to fly my 65hp BC12-D over 9000' in western Montana (been to 10,000' before) to get through mountain passes with fudge factor included. I agree with jrzangger about the crossing altitudes. I think the hardest thing about mountain flying, is not getting lost if you are not familar with the area. Mountains tend to look alike at low altitudes. Also, if a pass starts to look like it will get tight ahead, IT WILL, turn around right away, while you still have room and start climbing until you are high enough to clear any possible terrain, and then turn back. If you have any further questions feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks again for the tour of your stomping grounds.
