  • 88M: Thick green glue??

Knowing that fabric will absorb the energy of the abrasive, I'm trying to remove anything that will get in the way of the sandblasting operation.

I used MEK to get the fabric off the tubes, but there appears to be a thick green "glue" remaining which is barely softened by the MEK.

Should I remove this prior to sending it to the sandblaster? - Mike

Mike, That sounds like Cecobond. Other ways to remove it were discussed earlier on this thread.

Yeah, it does... Mike, do you know what system it had covering it before? Anything you can remove will be just less that you have to pay the sandblaster to remove... however, it's worth it sometimes!

Also sounds like it could be that rand-o-whatever primer that goes on as the first two coats of dope. I think it's nitrate dope with some green additive. I recall lacquer thinner is a solvent for it.
