  • Debate Over; Selling Yellow Duck

I have pretty much made up my mind. Will sell "Yellow Duck" Posted all info on Buy/Sell. Price is $10K. Easy repair and, do what you think you must on the engine. But, after speaking with several knowledgeable people and a couple of IA's; everyone seems to say. Repair the gear and fly it. The prop was not bent, and the stoppage was after several light contacts with the side of the ditch and finally stopped. Do not believe there is any damage. But you must decide what you can live with.

Kevin and one other is looking at it, but no money yet. It will stay at the airport in Abbeville Louisiana (OR3) for a while. I am leaving on June 21 for Billings MT for about three weeks, The National Harley Owners Group (HOG) Rally. If not sold by then, will transport it to my hangar at my home and do the repair and then sell for a much higher price. What ever the market will bring. So buy early and save money.

A really good deal. One that I know I will regret later.

We are going through Mt Rushmore, then Yellowstone, then up to Billings. Will that put us near you?

Received deposit on the "Duck" yesterday from Herman Teachout, of Griffin GA. He came down, looked (very thourghly), gave me a deposit and will repair and fly. He is into Mission work and has several airplanes, including at least one other T-Craft on floats in South America.

Started the engine and tracked the prop. Ran true. Started first flip after turning a few times to prime.

He is going to return and probably remove the wings and trailer back to GA. Had a very nice visit with them and seemed verp personable. Wish him all the best with the "Duck" . Gonna miss her.

            Lee,
Sorry to learn about your parting with the yellow Duck, I wish you both well. If the factory was able to build you a sportplane, I'd suggest you get one, but that not being the case, you might want to look into ultralights. There is a company out of opa laka fla. that makes a very good copy of the Taylorcraft bc65. I think it is called the LM1-t. They have several replicas that are all called LM1s, the suffix determines the plane that they replicate. If I had to go to ultralights, that is the plane that I would buy, hands down.

              Lee,
The kit is LM-2X-2P-W. it is a 32' span 65 horse 75% replica that has numbers that are almost as good as the real thing. The site that has the specs for all the replica designs available is: https://www.lightminiatureaircraft.c...ifications.htm Hope this helps, Brie

Nope, wrong end of the state, Lee. That's about 500 miles from me in Billings. Darn!! If you go over the Beartooth Hiway out of RedLodge, MT (which will take you to Yellowstone...and WELL worth the ride!!!!), my Great Grandfather pioneered that and the Cooke City Hiway. There's a museum in RedLodge that's supposed to have a whole bunch of stuff about him.. he was a miner and explorer in that area.. His name was Melvin Martin.
At any rate, enjoy the ride...wish I was going to be there, but I'll be home beating big rocks into little rocks!

Lee, If I'm not mistake, you also have an L-2 don't you??? I have seen your name assocdiated with more than one Taylorcraft airplane over the years.

Buy another Taylorcraft. IMHO don't fool with the ultralights. Take an airplane that's already pretty small in the cabin, then shrink it down to 3/4 of that size???

Methinks youo ught to buy an 85 horse upgraded BC-12D, for far less than a new one... unless you want a brand new one that is.

Have only received a deposit, not the balance as yet. Once I get that, then I will decide what I will do.

For now, I have several projects that need completing. (not airplanes). Also going on two trips. One motorcycle to Billings MT. Then flying to Portland OR (via airline) from there to Vancover BC, and Victoria Island for another week.

This will takes us into Sep. More projects to finish. then maybe I can decide what to do after that.

Would love to visit with members in the Portland and Vancover area while there.
