  • Removing doorframe?

I seem to have read were folks talked about removing their doorframe (?)
Well, here is mine.... it seems to be welded into place. Is this not your situation? - Mike

    Hum?

Both the wood and metal door frames I have seen have been bolted/screwed to the airframe. Perhaps some were welded on? I guess that is one less thing to remove. Check out Capt. Johns web site http://taylorcraft.info/tcraft/proj048.jpg

      Mike,
It's not uncommon to see t-crafts with the door frames welded into place....pretty common on some of them, just work around it as best as you can and keep going.

Mike, if and when you get to the point where you or someone else are standing next to the fuselage with a welding torch, be sure to add the six or eight little welded tabs for the skylight. In your case, it will be a very easy thing to put in so you can put in the skylight now or later. It will be a very easy upgrade that way, since you are replicating the factory installation per the factory drawings. I had an irrational fear of welding on the airplane and didn't want to do anything permanent to a pre-war airplane. If I wer ein your shoes right now I'd choose the welded tabs and F-21 style mounting. E-mail me privately whenever you want to talk about the details..
