  • sheetmetal for leading edge

I need info on where I can get sheetmetal for wing leading edge. I'm restoring a taylorcraft F21-B model. The sheetmetal size is .020" 4x8 or 4x12 sheets, also looking for marine grade plywood 1/4 size 4x8 sheets for cargo box. Thanks.

    Re: sheetmetal for leading edge

Aircraft Spruce has everything you'll need. I think their leading edge material is .016. But, if you insist, they will shear some .020 for you. (I'd suggest that you do NOT insist, .016 is plenty strong enough and a couple of beer sotted mortals can easily bend it around the leading edge)

They also sell Marine and Aircraft plywoods. Finnish birch aircraft plywood costs about half as much as marine plywood, is aircraft certified, and is about the most beautiful material to ever grace a T-Craft. Give it 3 or coats of varnish with a light sanding and tack cloth between coats. Yummy!
