Sad to hear you're selling, but am anticipating the fun of a "new" Tcraft in your future!! Too bad the insurance is being a pain...they better get used to the "self certified" medicals... you'd think that when it made it past federal rule, it would be sort of a no-brainer!!!

Let us know how Avemco does,I'm in the same boat, Avemco insurance and sport lic. Many years ago when I ran into the C-150 Avemco settled with the owner in 4 days, so I've been with them for 22 years.
I'm watching you story and see how they do.

I've had insurance thru AUA for several years thru EAA Vintage. When sport was passed I asked them what I needed to do if I ever chose to not get a medical. They knew all about sport & said I needed to do nothing at all if I chose to do sport pilot.I also had a claim once & they were very responsive & fast on payment.I've been very pleased with them.

I am 66 years old and decided not to renew my medical when it expired last August. I have commercial, instrument CFII. I purchased my insurance through AOPA insurance agency. Last July, I called AOPA insurance agency and told them that I would not be renewing my medical and asked if I would be covered in case of accident. Their reply was that the driver's licence was in fact a legal medical and that I would be covered. Their insurance carrier is AIG Aviation.

I'm insured through Avemco. I just renewed mine and asked at that time if I would be covered on my BC12D with an expired medical, as it would be legal to fly under the LSA rules. My agent told me yes, a valid drivers license IS a medical for LSA purposes.....you DO have to ground yourself under certain medical circumstances though.

It seems it is the claim adjuster agency LDA, that is having a problem. And Avemco said they must go alone with whatever LDA says. Thought I was buying insurance from Avemco, now they are passing the buck. Wouldn't you know?

They are not passing the buck in my humble opinion. Looks like they are using outside adjusters so they can deny claims. I they wonder why they get into law suits....... Deny payment on a true/need claim will do it every time.... Sorry they are jerking you around Lee I am losing all respect for Avemco real quick knowing this.......
