  • Weight and Balance Paperwork

My airplane is getting its annual now. I decided to get a new set of eyes on it this year and the mechanic I'm using is a real bug on paperwork. He's going through all my logbooks going back to day 1 and putting together a file on the airplane. I'm fine with that and I have just about everything he's looking for but when he asked me for weight and balance paperwork I can't ever recall seeing any and my plane has been in the family for 40 years.

Do any of you have the paperwork for your plane? Could someone give me an idea of what it looks like or maybe a template for making one for mine?

    Thanks!

If you guys are into the history and records of your given aircraft then get on the FAA site and request the records of your N#. They have a CD version for $7 and a paper version for $12. I ordered the CD version and ended up printing 230 pages of records (and used up a $40 ink cartridge....Dumb). Fascinating info! The reason I am posting this is that those records included at least half a dozen weight and balance sheets for my 1938 BF-50. One W & B after a complete recover in 1944 added nearly 40# to the aircraft! Mine left the factory at 654#. The original application for Airworthiness was signed by C.G. Taylor and the plane was sold new to Col. Rosco Turner president of Central Aeronautical Corp in Indianaplolis. Neat stuff for the history buff. I have been sifting and sorting thru the paperwork for a couple weeks now. A lot of what your inspector will be looking for is here. The down side is that it can also uncover some "oops" that can raise suspicion.
