Here's a strange collection of floatplanes at Martin State Airport last Saturday.
Note the control tower in the backround of one of the photos. The lagoon we anchored in was where the old Martin flying boats were launched, just a stones throw from the runway. Many old timers that worked there years ago stopped by to see the planes, and tell old war stories. There were a lot of fans of Taylorcrafts, many of the old timers learned to fly in them.
We had a SPA tent shared by the Albatross crew, gave out 150 copies of the Water Flying SPA magazine, and 150 of the SPA membership applications.
I'll bet you AK guys laugh at such a meager colection of floatplanes, but this is just 20-25 or so miles from the White House.
The festival is called "waterfest" and will be an annual affair-this was only the second one. A big fireworks display capped off the day.
