Re: Repair Stream line tubing for Larger Struts
Pegi - I seem to recall a discussion about three years ago (?????) where folks were discussing building their own; the drawback being locating the streamlined tubing. I THINK the results were that folks went up a size.
You may be able to locate the correct thickness of sheetmetal and have a welder build and apply an external split sleeve type of splice over the bend.
Check my facts before doing anything; I'm relatively new at this and am probably giving partial information. - MIkeMike Horowitz

Re: Repair Stream line tubing for Larger Struts
My personal opinion always has been that I wont repair a lift strut...that's all that holds my wing in the right place to fly with. However...there is nothing that says it can't be done, and as greasemonkey says, AC43 has info on the proper repairs. I guess it would depend on what the damage was, what caused it, and where it was located before I'd consider it.
JHI'm so far behind, I think I'm ahead

Re: Repair Stream line tubing for Larger Struts
My BC12D had a lift strut repaired many years ago with a sleeve. It has worked great and is hard to spot unless you look for it. Theoretically the repair should be the strongest part of the strut!

Re: Repair Stream line tubing for Larger Struts
Pegi replied via PM that Dillsburg didn't have the correct size tubing.
So.... has there ever been a time in say the last 15 years SL tubing for rebuilding a strut has not been available? Is there a source? -perhaps the Luscombe folks? - MikeMike Horowitz
