    Help!!!
I have read on this forum you should change bungees every three years and after loooking though the logs I could not find where mine have ever been changed out. My TCraft is a 83 model F21 and is setting a little low on one side and wallowing badly in any crosswind so I ordered a set from Univair. My question is they are dated Oct. 2003 that is two and a half years since they were made what's the shelf life of bungees?
I ordered four 9010HDX and built a tool but would like any advise you seasoned TCrafters can provide hate to install them and find out they need changing again next year, anything would be better than what's on it now.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Shelf life on Un-Stretched bungees should not be an issue. If they are installed and used that's when the wear and tear takes place.

              Re: Bungee Date

We replaced my bungees on this years annual. What a difference!
The old once hade 3-4 " of stretch in them, the new once we hade to stretch all the way the lenght of one side 7-8".How old they were I dont know, possibly from 83 0r 99, two years the KZU was rebuilt in one way or other, nothing in log book what I have found, lot nicer to land now! (;f
I have been told rubber products last 5 years in an aircraft.
Bungees, Fuel hoses, hoses to the airspeed indicator etc.
Check your hoses to the airspeed indicator under the door post cover, behind the panel etc. They may lock nice, but so did my old girl friend,
Cheap stuff change them, ( not girl friend, hoses are lower in price) -mine cracked and I had a low airspeed indication.
I fixed it, cut of a pice, re-mounted it, Wrong, now I have NO Airspeed!
              New hose please!
Fuelhoses, I put in Teflon with steel outside and fire sleev over them.
They don't care what fuel you use! Last year she ran to 1200 rpm and sputtered and died.
One rubberlined fuel hose had sveled just behind the fitting and closed inward to 3/16" Id.
              No Go. Age, agin un-known.

E-mailed the company who makes the bungees I purchased from Univair his comments are below. Changed bungees today using homemade tool and procedure from this website, took about an hour no big deal.

                Mike,
If they were stored properly they are probably fine. Ideally they should be stored in a climate controlled environment out of direct sunlight.

Heck....I have to change them every year....On in the fall, off in the spring. They don't get a chance to get worn out that way

I have decided to recover my gear legs this summer.....I want to give them a good inspection....years of ski flying is hard on them.

Oh yea...I jumped the gun on the shelf life too. There are always factors....never say never right?
