What other aircraft use the same bungee tool we do?
Someone asked to borrow one and I'd like to be able to point him to anyone who maintains 'x' aircrafts i.e. Cubs - Mike

Re: The bungee tool

Mike, No one else answered and I'm not sure, but the TCraft tool is unique. Piper is much different. I used the club tool for my plane and sent it back and now I guess it's disappeared.

Wasn't the plans for the tool in one of the newsletters?

Might be a good welding project!!

Does anyone know which issue and maybe how to get a copy?

Re: The bungee tool

There was one that just sold on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Taylo...28677025QQrdZ1

It was from Dave Rude.....maybe he'd sell another for the same price, $93.
There is a bungee tool that does work on both Cubs and Taylorcrafts. Aircraft Spruce sells it for $195. I don't think it works as well on Taylorcrafts as the purpose built model, but it's all I've ever used and it does a good job. Two people can change them out in about half an hour. It's PN# 06-16600.

Re: The bungee tool

I'm waiting for Mr. Rude to deliver my tool, hopefully this week. I think he had another ad on Ebay after I got mine. Mike, if there isn't one, just search the old Ebay ads for the bungee tool, you can see a picture of what his looks like.
Cheers,
Marty

If drawings get hard to find I have a set and photographs that I drew up from the one I borrowed from Amelia Reid aviation in San Jose, CA.

Just checked the above site. The one I made the drawings from was exactly like the "factory 84" one shown, even to the paint, so I assume it was a factory tool.

Best to Email me as sometimes I don't get back here for a while.

The TCraft bungee tool is very easy to use. I hope whoever has the club tool is kind enough to replace it--

Re: The bungee tool

I have one for sale $95 includes shipping. Works almost too well, in my haste I put the two cords and safety cable on in the wrong order first time and had a devil of a time taking them off in one piece but it worked. I hate to ask money but a fair price is the best I can do. You can p.m. a reply. The picture will show a couple of improvements.

Hello All, I have a number of the tools on hand and can fabricate as many additional as needed. They are new and fabricated in a jig. I usually put an ad in the TOC newletter in the spring but forgot to this spring. You will like this tool. I sell tcraft tools for $93 + UPS, satisfaction guaranteed. Also I will be producing them for J3 and PA12-14 within a few weeks. Here is my usual ad, pardon the commercialism;

New Taylorcraft Shock Cord Bungee Tool- New, similar to the one that had been manufactured by Taylorcraft for their airplanes however this is an improved version of the tool. Made of square steel tubing. Arms that hold the cord in place cannot rotate out of position. Crank operates the jackscrew. It has enough reach so that the new bungees can be attached to it even when the landing gear has moved up because the old bungees have been removed. Locks into position when the bungee has been fully stretched for no hands operation. You don't have to balance the tool while you slide the cords off of it. The tool remains stable even after you slide one side of the bungee off the tool and onto the plane. No wrestling or balancing required to keep the tool from popping out of position. I think you will find it to be the best tool you have ever used. Buyer pays actual shipping for 9 lbs. from zip 12603 plus $2 for packaging. Use shipping calculator to get exact cost. Each one is assembled in a jig so that quality is assured. Comes with instructions, satisfaction guaranteed or purchase price refunded. Sales tax applies if sold in NY. The newer tools do not have the 45 degree miter at corners as is visible in the picture, makes no real difference, just letting you know. Color may vary.

Re: The bungee tool

Hey guys,

I spoke to David last night by phone, a very nice gentlemen who has worked hard to make a nice and easy to use tool. By all means I would recommend him to anyone who would rather spend a little money rather than chase the club's tool around, wherever it is. I'd rather have one on hand to use when I need it, as well as lend it to a friend at the airport who owns another Taylorcraft.
Cheers,
Marty
