  • Taylorcraft Ski Landing

I flew over to a friend of mine's 1000' strip on March 26th and took him for his first skiplane ride. He is a brand new Student pilot and he just built a new strip and a hangar.....he'll need some practice before he tries landing his Aeronca Chief at this strip.....he hasn't soloed yet. I told him it may take quite a while before he uses his strip by himself.....it is 1000'...not all useable. Powerlines on the end that My approach is from...and trees and a small barn....he didn't like hearing that from me...but he understood after we landed there. His wife shot this video of us landing. T-Craft Skiplane Landing I enjoyed watching the video...I didn't even know she shot it until they e-mailed it to me. This is from 3/26/06. Hope you enjoy the little clip.

I learned on skis in a '40, & love ski flying. This year I bought a set from a tribe member but we didn't have enough snow to use them. I need to move to da U.P. eh!

              Eric,

I just took them off Saturday...I have to get the floats on before April 17th for a flight test. I wish you had been able to come up earlier...we had a blast. I flew 25 hrs on skis this year. Since I bought that house on the lake we went every weekend weather permitted. Try to get up next winter and we'll go. If you come this summer or spring...let me know and we'll go float flying.
