  • A-65 and what model carborator??

Thinking ahead that I might want to buy a gasket kit and o/h the carborator, I figured it might be important to know what kind I had. So, while replacing the air filter I glanced at the carb. It's a Stromberg, but there is no further ident i.e. a model number. GOOGLING for A-65 and Stromberg gives me model NAS3A1. Is it a sure bet that if I have an A-65 and a Stromberg carb, then that's the model number?

By the way the carb. portion of this page looks like it might be interesting - MIke

During the last 50 plus years who knows what may have been stuck on there? I would go ahead and order the rebuild kit for what you think it is and if the parts fit that's an additional vote for you having what you think. If they don't fit, try again. If the engine runs well with what's on there and you can get the right gaskets for it, I wouldn't worry too much about what exact model it is. Who can prove otherwise? (don't ask, don't tell...) Are you sure it is an A-65?

Yes (although there may be additional nomenclature associated with that prefix) - Mike

The part number should be on the bottom flange of the carb. It should say 380155-x or 380156-x if it doesn't have a mixture control (NA-S3B). If it's a NA-S3A1 with mixture contol it should be A-18033(B)-x. All Stromberg NA-S3 series carbs use the same gasket set. You need the parts list for your model to tell if it is jetted correctly.

Ah HA! the number on the side is 380155_2. So I have a NA-S3B.
