How about priming the oil pump then disconnecting the oil pressure line from the engine and then spinning from behind so you can look in and see. If any squirts out you've got pressure. More dependable than wondering if the oil pressure guage works or not or waiting for the pressure to build up in the line that is probably full of air and needs bleeding.
