Re: These amateurs are going to kill me

Bob, it's called sniping and there are software programs you can use to get those last second bids in. I believe they can timed to within a few seconds if you have a fast enough connection.
Making those last second bids by hand was considered something of an art form by early Ebayers and many of the old time users detest these new fangled modern methods.

Open up two screens on your computer. You can watch whats happening on one and be ready to bid on the other.

[There certainly has been an increase in exposure lately. There's 2 great Taylorcraft pictures in the latest Sport Aviation magazine, one of Harry by the (only?) Taylorcraft Sport and one beautiful (familiar looking) green and yellow T in the EAA Airventure ad.
That Green and Yellow one is my old plane.. sold her in 2002. Kind sorry I did but the restoration was done in 92 .... There is always room for improvement.(Hope the Clip shows that well though....!!!)

Ebay is a place to buy only if you are really willing to pay top dollar. If you're bargain hunting, ebay ain't the place.

Re: These amateurs are going to kill me

Ebay has actully lowered the market value of most items. Things that used to be very hard to find are all over Ebay now....and it's created a buyer's market. There are very few big sellers of "old" things there any more, becuase they simply can't get enough money on Ebay.
Unfortunately for Taylorcrafters, the items we need REALLY ARE in very short supply. Someday soon, we'll look back and talk about these as the good old days when you could buy parts without selling a kidney.

Jim,
I love that paint scheme! I would never thought of those colors, but they look great. My wife was thumbing through the magazine and when she saw that picture, she brought it to me and said "This is how our's should look!"

Re: These amateurs are going to kill me

Vincent, Thank you. The plane was featured on the front cover of Vintage Aircraft (EAA)-MAY 2001 A year after I took it to Sun N Fun , It was great fun to get all that attention (fly with the EAA 210 Photo ship ) and all with just a lil ol BC12d !! The whole intent with that plane was reallyto bring attention to the Taylorcraft. I belive it did that in spades. Guess you can blame me a little for the value of these planes going up !!!. It is a nice plane . It flies as nice as it looks although at 803lbs it was a bit heavy for an A-65 Tcraft in my book anyway. I am shooting for 720 with the clip !!!

Re: These amateurs are going to kill me

Tribe, I am still enjoying the lower price of the T-Crafts. No intention of selling the Duck, so not worried about the prices going up. I prefer them staying just the way they are. I am looking to buy another T-Craft, but I want an 85-100. I'll take the lower prices. Not interested in it going like the Cubs, where you need to pay an arm and a leg to get something that needs restoring or pay a fortune for an old airplane. If you are not looking for an LSA, there are many airplanes that are still great buys. ie: Cherokees; Pacers; Maules; Luscombes; Stensions; Citabria and a few others. All for about the same as a good Cub. So lets not get in a hurry for the T-Craft to go up very fast, Unless you are in to make money. Most of us are in it to fly or some to restore. I am happy with our prices.

Lee you mentioned "arm and a leg". I seen a roll back auto transport truck today that read ,"We don't want your arms or legs...just your Tow's". I thought it was funny in a corney kind of way...but I'm blonde so what the hell do I know.

I still beleive we will be able to get parts from the factory someday. They may not be cheap, but those hard to find parts will be available.
The new sport plane is a f-19, which 95% of the parts will fit our BC12d.

Re: These amateurs are going to kill me

About eBay. You can get some amazing bargains on eBay, or you can pay way too much. Like any auction. Please, please do your homework and have some idea what the stuff is worth before you bid.

And I really don't know how you would do a restoration these days without eBay. You can easily find old airplane parts there that otherwise would take years of searching and phone calls to find. Plus, you can stock up on nifty aviation stuff (like that beautiful 6 o'clock altimeter that you just had to have) and then, if you change your mind, sell it again on eBay for a dollar or two, or even make a profit.

I'll admit it, yes, I'll say it out loud. "I love eBaY."
