    Hi guys.

going to floats for the first time.. looking for paperwork on the install.

have floats with rigging, need fittings, bolt or weld, weight/balance info, do and donts and any suggestion for corrosion prevention, as we will, most certainly, be flying in and out of salt water often, as we live at the pacific ocean.

    gonna be awesome!

I bought my weld on float fittings from atlee in anchorage.
Salt water is something i would stay away from. I have seen a few planes that land in the salt regularly and they were is pretty bad shape from corrosion and rust. Tube and fabric airplanes dont do well in the salt think of all that spray all over the underside of your plane and all that salt water on all your fittings, tail feathers and tubes.

The salt is a real letdown for me as well. I live on the Georgia coast and would love to pull my plane up on a beach. but with the salt i would just be throwing my plane out in a few years. so i got a beater Ultralight that i plan to stick on some floats (for about$500 for a used set) i think that will be the only way to fly floats in the salt.

i know you could just wash the whole plane everytime you use it... but time has shown me that my boat which was designed for salt still take s beating.

sorry to sound so down on the idea that you have put so much work and money into. if you figure out a way to make it work well please let me know.
