The March 2006 issue of Smithsonian Air & Space has a good article on Attu the last island in the Aleutian chain. Also the link to Shemya that Dick Smith posted in a reply to my post on flying the Aleutians in a Sterman is worth taking a look. Then think about flyin a open Sterman across that area realizing if you go into the water you have 3 minutes to help your self and in 10 to 15 minutes your heart will probably stop.
