  • N21271 ???

Does anyone have any idea as to the history of this plane- I have checked the FAA registry and it comes up as a Cessna with no other history. I think it was a 1938 Tcraft but I am not sure.

      Re: N21271 ???

Forrest- I recently got some stuff and there was a rudder included. It was still covered in what I thought to be original cotton. The tailwheel steering horn that normally goes into the tube on the bottom is not present- the tube is sealed and there is a clamp on steering horn. It is definately a pre war- I was just curious about it's history. When I removed the covering I saved the covering and plan to hang it in my airplane room.

I guess you have the rudder of NC21271, that ship was Ser# 1064 a BF-50 built in 1939 , the split was ser# 1135 & up in 1939. No more info at this time, you can call FAA Aircraft records and have them check the archives for that NC number....

Forrest, are you using Juptner's? 'cause he agrees with you. Maybe my data plate is weird but: 20442 sn-1130 has Jan. 5th 1939 on a Taylor-Young plate.....? And Eric's would be a '38 with sn-1064.????

Could it be that originaly the tailwheel was in the fuselodge like the A model or they used a A model rudder and added the rudder steering? Marv

If you guys think about it for a minute you'll remember that in the late 1930's I think they still used a skid.
