Try checking with your local EAA chapter, Mike... that being said, it's the best money you'll spend if you just buy one.

I have an old Ray Stits covering video, but I have no idea which box it's in. My assumption is that Poly-Fiber has made an updated video which is probably improved. If you run out of luck elsewhere I'll start digging through boxes. But for $20 or whatever it is indeed a good investment anyway.

        Mike:

I got the DVD version of the Poly Fiber video at Oshkosh last year. You're sure welcome to use it. Send me your address on the PM and I'll get it to you.

PS I also have an instructional DVD of a A-65 Continental overhaul, about 2 hours long, black and white, looks like it was made around 1945. Anyone like to borrow it?

Thanks Bob - See your PM.
I'm going out to the EAA Chapter house this morning and ask:
          - who the guru is for welding
          - if there was an A&P who could sign-off work I do during an engine O/H (just looking ahead/dreaming)
          - who the fabric guru is.
          - look thru the video library for the PolyFibre film.

By the way - the DVD of the A-65 overhaul (I got mine off e-bay) is most informative, but all that measuring certainly sounds tedious!!! Anyone built a spreadsheet that contains places to record measurement of each part, maybe shows the limits( from the o/h manual), and provides a place to put the difference? - Mike

            Re: PolyFiber video?

The first few times you measure up an engine during O.H. it sure seems to take forever. Learning how to use the tools properly and not being satisfied weather or not you measured properly. A check list for measurements and assembly is quite helpful and lets you sleep better at night. That way you don't worry if you forgot to safety that one bolt inside the case and keeps you from ending up with extra parts Go buy a core VW bug engine for $50 and practice taking it apart and reassembling it to become more familiar with using your tools and how engines work. OR spend $1000 for a wasted A65 core if you got the money. Even after building many different engines I am still a bit nervous during the first few hrs of operation hoping I did my job and the stupid thing stays together or doesn't start to eat itself to pieces. I just built an 0-290d2 for my friends HE-1 cub. Man was I nervous on that one. Working on friends stuff can be the worst.

Bob - went to the EAA Chapter house yesterday and the first video I picked up was RAy Stit's Covering video. It's the one where he describes the process in nine lessons and there is someone doing a voice-over while he does the work in the background. If that's the same as you have, thanks for the offer but I may be set.

              Regards, Mike
