    Re: New Radio

Suprise, left my house for ARA yesterday, wind came up and stayed. Blowing about 18-20 and gusting. Tied the Duck at ARA. Will go get it today. Not to bad landing at ARA (8K ft long) but at my home, short, trees on three sides. So better to come home later when not so rough.

I have a King KY-192 in my panel, works fine with a portable battery. I want to operate it through an intercom but I need a hookup diagram for the ky-192, if anyone has one. would appriciate a copy.

          Joke about texas Aggie pilot

It seems they were making an approach on an uncontrolled field in west Texas. They looked at the sock and noted that the corresponding runway was very short. So they set up an approach on it. They had much trouble on downwind because there training did not allow for such a short runway. so when the approach end was 45 degrees off their rear left quarter they turned from the wide downwind to base, and made all the announcements on unicom. They rolled out on final and anounced short final to the other traffic. The PIC Aggie had taken a few courses at Alabama State so he was pretty smart. Lucky for that, because this was going to take a lot of skill to land this plane on this runway. The aggies touched down right where the asphalt begins. it was a flauless touchdown, fully stalled, The PIC had no choice but to get on the binders and hold the yoke back in his lap to slow down. The aggies ate up runway like you would not believe, coming to the end of the pavement the PIC just barely was able to stop.

Sitting on the runway, The PIC stated to the co-pilot, "man that was a short runway!"..........The co-pilot stated yes it was, but it was sure wide....

Looking at the pictures you posted of the engine compartment iis there 2 oil filters.
What oil filter adapter are you using?
The on on the side of engine?
The one under the mags is?
              Is the engine a A 65?

                Re: New Radio

Looks like an F&M adapter to me. The lower item is the dainty little B&C alternator he noted. Taking a close look at the photo's, I have a question: it looks like maybe you have a primer line to each cylinder, instead of a single primer into the intake spider? What caught my eye is that the small copper lines (I assume primer lines) look awful close to the LH muffler shroud. Don't mean to pick your fine looking engine installation apart, maybe it's just the perspective of the photo...

                  The Engine is a C-85
There is only one oil filter (CH48108 on a TAF Oil Filter Adaptor). This is an STC and I believe it is on file with Forest. Capt. Jon copied all my stuff during the fly-in a couple of years ago. The orange thing is the B&C Alternator.

                  As for the primer lines.....

They ARE very close to the exhaust shrouds. There are rubber spacers to keep them from ever touching. They attach at the 90 that bolts to the cylinder. I inspect them closely quite often, but 6 years of flying, twice to OSH and once to Alliance have shown no problems yet.......... There is really no way to move them further away.

                    Re: New Radio

In 25+ years, I've never seen a problem with those primer lines like that, and we all run 4 lines when you live in cold country.
Richard's oil filter is approved under STC SE7562SW, held by Floyd Jones, and is identified as a TAF oil filter adapter from the F&M Company. (That's what it says on the STC) They're about $200 out of WagAero.
