    Mike, I think he was referring to the hinge/brackets on the aileron spar itself.
    The outside ones have 2 bolts and a reinforcing plate on each side of the spar, and the center one, that actually has the push/pull attach incorporated in it has 5 bolts as well as reinforcing plates and the spar doubler at it. From what I read, the spars had come apart and the bolts were holding things together along with the reinforcing plates. The ones on my Tcraft had been tightened numerous times (obviously by someone that didn't stop to think of the reason they needed tightening), to the point that the spars were crushed down to about 3/16" thick at the bolts... a nice stack of washers and they just cranked it down some more...
