  • Shinn Brake Lining

Does anyone have a source for Shinn Bake Lining?
I have been waiting a month for some from a company called SKYBOUND. I found another company in TRADE-A-PLANE from OK., but they don't answer their phone.
Can't I find some from my local NAPA automotive store?
With no brakes on one side I keep making more left turns than John Dean.
    Thanks for your Help!

My Grandfather is the one in TP with the linings. Someone is usually around but may not be near the phone, so if you don't get an answer please try again. We also have a lot of other T-craft parts as well.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same folks. Is the add in TP for Skybound? If not do you have another number for your Grandfather?

I've talked to the folks at Skybound 3 times over the last two months. Real nice people that always promise to ship next week......so far no linings. I'm starting to worry I nedd another source. I'm dead in the water as I'm down to the rivits and can't get my signoff without new linings.

                Bob,

Don't want to see you grounded while you're waiting for linings. I've got a set, with the rivets, I order last year from SKYBOUND. I still haven't needed to put them on yet. I'd be happy to send them to you, and you can just send me replacements when you find another set.

Let me know Bob. I could probably have them to you in a couple of days...

                  Mike,
Thank you for your offer. I'm going to give it another week and if I still don't have them, I'll take you up on your offer. Tcrafters are the greatest.

                    Shinn Brake linings

I replaced my linings last April with linings from Skybound. I cant say anything bad about the experience. I called on a Monday, the woman shipped them to me that day did not even ask for Credit Card or money order. When I got the box it had a loose piece of scrap paper in it with the words "Linings- $42.00" and the address to mail the check. I mailed the check and it was cashed in a week. The linings came with brass rivets. Skybound would be my choice. Make another call, talk to someone and find out if they are really busy or short on material.

This is how it was when I ordered also. Call, then parts arrival within a few days. The bill was inside. All without payment up front.
                      Roland,
I also have linning's and not had the need to replace them yet,
and would be glad to send them to you w/rivet's, should you like.

                            Ok tribe,
I have my brake linings and will replace them soon. Is there an archived discussion on how to do that. It looks like I will need to drill and countersink the lining material. any suggestions on the depth of material to leave in the countersink? I seem to remember a discussion about using an adheasive but I think that was discouraged. How do I search this new site for old posts.
                            Thanks

                              Bob:

I believe Rob Lees is working on a piece for the Foundation archives on brake lining installation. You might contact him and see if he has some preliminary work done on it that might help.

                              Cheers,
