  • Lexan over cabin area

Hello: Anything special (paperwork) needed to substitute Lexan over the cabin area instead of fabric? Doc

    Re: Lexan over cabin area

I have some drawings I made, and instructions I wrote, to do that. I did it one time unofficially, and I'm doing it again now, but I will probably get a 337 form for it. The way I did it requires no welding or permanent changes, so I am hoping the FAA will be easier on it than if I welded or bolted something through the frame.

Greg Clayton from North Pole, AK had an STC for doing it a while ago... I'd imagine it's still around. I bought it for mine.

I have a F21a and would also like to install the skylight but like the BC12D not the later F21's that cover the baggage compartment, can this be done?
Also can the doors be inserted with lexan without paper work.
        Thanks,
        Mike

One thing you might want to know is you haft to use plexy glass and not lexan. The faa told me that plexy was the only thing i could use for my skylight. The guy from north pole dose have a stc. Also you do haft to get a 337 for the doors.

Hello: I will contact the SAT FSDO this week regarding Lexan vs Plexiglas as I was given a large sheet from a friend of mine who had just used it on his PA-18 rebuild...I will also ask about the half-door and skylight 337 requirement. Doc

Sky ligth is nice to have, makes for greath visabilety! What thickness are there in the regular door windows and skyligth? 1/16".
Lexan is NOT gasoline proof to my understanding.
