Locating an A&P via his certificate number??

I know that I can go to the FAA Airman Registry and by entering a person's name, find out what certificates he/she has.

I'm trying to locate an A&P and have his certificate number.
Is there a way of locating that person online based on that number? - Mike

You can try landings.com. They have a section a the bottom of the page that you search the FAA's directory. Hope this helps.

Mike, Is the signature in the log unreadable? How about previous or following entries? Different handwriting? Can't search by #, probably because many of them were issued w/ the persons social security # just like many pilot certificates were. You might be able to back into it if you know the city and state where the work was done, (any receipts w/ the paperwork?) I tried it just using MD and my little town name here and pulled up 10 mechs w/in a 2 mile radius! But if you can get it down to a few the signature might then give you a clue. Good luck. Howard

Good morning Howard - a 337 for a Tcraft I"m looking at says they primed the fuse. with Zinc Chromate, but what I'm seeing is something that is reddish-brown in color, so I'd like to contact him and see what actually happened.
His name is Frank Martin, and at the time he lived in MD. He has since moved. Maybe to FL. Searching the FAA registry showed some 'Frank Martin(s)' in FL, but none with an A&P cert. This person''s cert. is 2187920, so he's not using his SSAN. - Mike

Mike,

I found an IA by his certificate number (his signature was illegible in the log and the 337) merely by calling the local FSDO and asking. They called me back and gave me his name and last known address. I then tracked him down using good ole fashioned detective work.

SOLUTION: I called the Dulles FSDO and they looked up the cert. no. Last addy is in OR. - Mike
