I am currently cleaning and scraping parts for my T-Craft rebuild. This week I disassembled the fuel valve on the nose tank. I discovered that there was a 60 year old piece of leather packing in around the valve stem. Well, I could get a piece of the correct leather packing to repair the valve if I wanted to, but I think I have found something better. I have decided to use 1/8 Teflon packing material. It comes in the form of a shoe string and is easily wrapped around the stem during assembly. The spring and concave washer compress the Teflon as the packing retainer is reinstalled and tightened. A small amount of graphite is placed in the bottom of the valve to provide lubrication until the next rebuild. Its funny but these valves were meant to be rebuilt. I hope this helps someone. So far mine is doing fine.
