      Re: Availability of T-Crafts

I just purchased a Taylorcraft BC12D that has been disassembled and stored in a hanger and then a barn since 1983. It came with all the original parts and some xtra to include another fuselage. The engine is still intact but hanging from a hoist. The whole kit-n-kaboodle was 2K. From what I gather this is a pretty good price. Most of my past 25 years in aviation has been on military fighter aircraft the last being the F/A-22, which I'm currently working on at Lockheed. What would be the degree of difficulty approaching a restoration project like this with my experiance?

Hi Iornhead, It not that hard, just take it one step at a time. I am abt. to start on my T-Craft. 1946 BC12D. I would be interested in the extra fuselage. Sounds like you got a good deal.

Just out of curiosity, how did you learn of it? And of course, that deal can't be beat!- Mike

I learned about it through unfortunate circumstances. One of the guys that work I work with has terminal cancer and they need the money to help defray the cost of the medical

              Vic,
I'm pretty sure I don't want to get rid of anything until after the restoration, even then I'm a pretty bad pack rat.

aww you don't want to share. Just joking. I understand. I realy would like to find a tail clip. Started taking the T-Craft apart today. Pulled the tail feathers off and am going back after supper and start on the wings.

                  Vic,
Be careful, with the tail surfaces off,the wings off,and the engine still mounted to the firewall she will fall on her nose.Remove the engine or tie an anchor to the tail before you pull the wings

Engine is already off. So is the skin on the fuselage, windshield, wings and tail feathers.

Kevin, you work too cheap. I do a "cub" sized airplane such as a Cub, Champ, Tcraft etc for $15,000 plus materials and repairs. Wings @ four is a good quote, however, I just quoted seven for a pair of Ercoupe wings and got the job. (I buy the materials for this job, and have seen the inside of the wings before hand, so I know what may have to be done.

OK I don't know for sure how I got in this thread.

                            Two Ten Aero,
I know it's a bit cheap but I am still young and just starting to get my name and work known so I really need the press.I am a firm believer in quality over quanity and most of my work shows it.I admitt I still have lots to learn and I hope people will understand that if thier bird(restored by me)doesn't win first prize at Oshkosh......I think for my price they shoud be very happy with second place.haha

                              Re: Availability of T-Crafts

The Flea. Pitch was controlled by changing the angle of the upper (front) wing. In come cases, when the angle was increased (expect more lift on upper wing and a net pitch up of the craft), the reduced clearance of the trailing edge of the front wing and the leading edge of the rear wing caused higher airpseed over the rear wing. This caused more lift on the rear wing which resulted in a net pitch DOWN of the aircraft. This caused a couple of bad crashes.
