Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
I see on the spec page that the new Taylorcraft Sport still has the troublesome 21 gallon fuel tanks. Has the tank mounting system been redesigned, or will they be springing leaks after a few hundred hours like most (if not all) of the F21B/F22 models have?
I'd love to hear some details on the redesign if the problem has been solved.Craig Helm

Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
Ah again this is all very nice. I am happy to see THE Taylor Sport. Now again has anyone purchased and recieved parts and what is the production of such looking like? I am restoring several pre wars and parts are always a nice thing. With enough parts I can (build) or RE- BUILD a plane. Hence how many more PARTS do they have ?? Also are they PRODUCING parts then planes?
Great to see this plane . How long till the next one ? (Iam guessing that they are now filling orders?????)

Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
Under Harry Ingram's new ownership and leadership the Taylorcraft name is destined to again be the leader in its field.
I see they have a registration number but no Airworthiness Certificate.

Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
All ,lets try to be as supportive as we each personally can. Personally some have issues here I suppose. I am just going to use good judgement as I always TRY to do in my business dealings. That is ,take out as much emotion as possible before forking over my hard earned greenbacks.

Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
I would not think they would make up finishing "a plane" with the picture and all . Gees lets lighten up a little and give em a break here. Now as far as do they have a production facility set up to make our PARTS and build new
plane(SSS)we will see. Again I am of the opinion to be real cautious about what happens next down there . I will be calling them though to see about ordering some parts COD. I wll let yall know what happens.... In the mean time lets join in a little banter about them getting one together anyway.

Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
I have spoken to Harry. The first flight went very well. It was flown to 10000 feet. It flew very well. The second sport is in the jig now. I for one am very pleased to see the sport out and flying. I wish Harry and Taylorcraft well.

Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
Where can I find the link to the all the photos that someone took at the factory in Brownsville that showed the "Sport" going togeather? There must have been about 25 pics or more. I thought Capt. John may have posted it?Jason

Re: Taylor Sport First Flight
I saw the "Sport" in mid April, at the factory. Clean and sharp. The back-end cargo box looked roomy. All pieces and parts seemed to be well fitted, familiar to my eye (it looks just like a long nosed BC12D), and the lower cowl (which does NOT have the double chin-look of the older Ferris built T-crafts) looked really good.
I didn't get the chance to fly it. SO as I've been saying things looked and felt right. I couldn't tell anything about the manufacturing procedures, new tanks, new wings, as it appeared that much of this work was still being sorted out. Harry's hoping to make a big splash at Oshkosh in a couple of months. So somebody follow-up then.
With regards;
Ed O'Brien
