  • Engine Mount Refinish

After reviewing some older posts on engine mount refinishing, I still have a couple of questions. Just found a crack on the A-65's case so we pulled it and are dealing with that. The engine mount is a hodgepodge of yellow paint over black, and who knows what else. I plan on stripping the old paint, and now need some advice on who to send it to for inspection. I know Forrest spoke of dye penetrant, however, I really don't have the materials or experience of doing that myself. Also, I considered powder coating the mount, probably white. I have heard of the possible pitfalls of not being able to view any stress cracks, etc., once powder coated due to the hardness of the powder coating. If powder coating is not the way to go, what brand/type of paints do you guys recommend? As alway, thanks for the input!
    Cheers,
    Marty

    Re: Engine Mount Refinish

Find someone that can plastic media blast your mount. NOT sand, glass would be ok but not as good as PLASTIC. It will not harm the steel in anyway. I like to use a product like "Rust-Mort" on steel parts before priming and then use a light coat of zinc followed up with an epoxy paint.
