Hi Gang. About a week ago dedrckon posted a thread "what model is this". IN the discussions, Victor Bravo mentioned a Tcraft that hung from the rafters in a hanger at his local airport that had been recently sold. Well I found that plane for sale in Barnstormers "LSA project Taylorcraft $6500 Firm" and went to Sacramento, Ca, to look at it. The fuselage is a B model. The owner claims to have had it sandblasted and epoxy primed. It is primed, but there were several fittings, clamps, even some wood around the bungies, that were not removed and were just painted over. The landing gear looked OK except for a patch welded on the under side of the right strut, probably to repair a dent in the streamline tube. There have been several tubes added the the fuselage structure, I have no idea why, but the workmanship and welding was very good. One wing is complete, and needs new spars but has a badly damaged butt rib. (rough handling) The other wing is completely disassembled. They are early BC12D wings, (15 built up ribs and welded aileron brackets) Ailerons are complete but need spars. Doors are fabric covered (B model) The tail feathers are BC12D and looked airworthy, but the trim control in the fuselage would have to be changed to accommodate the later trim system. Tail brace wires looked good. Lift struts are there but there is a patch welded on one of the rear struts. The boot cowl is good, engine and nose cowls are junk.
He has an Ebay A-65 that goes with the plane, but no baffles or logs. In fact no logs for anything. He has a data plate for a BC12D, but he is not the regestered owner. The owner says he will take $5000 for the plane and engine. IMHO this plane would be a great source of parts, but is not a good candidate for a project...If any one is interested, I took some pictures and can Email them out.
